Mountain Bike Event Sees Two Major Title Sponsors join forces again for locally based NPO

In August this year, Non-profit organisation South Coast Hospice hosts its third annual sugar cane mountain bike event; The Halfway Toyota Illovo Sugar Challenge.

The event is held in Izotsha on the lower South Coast annually and the track stretches across five sugar cane fields. The event consists of 3 races; a 45km, the 25km and a 12km race.

Since the first Sugar Challenge took to the fields in 2012, Halfway Toyota and Illovo Sugar have been at the forefront to team up and partner with Hospice as title sponsors of the race. Now, the race is in its 3rd year and these two major players are not backing away from their social responsibilities.

Halfway Toyota and, Illovo Sugar have once again joined forces to support this event in efforts to raise much needed funds for South Coast Hospice’s care and support programmes for patients with life-threatening illnesses.

Brian Jones, Dealer Principle of Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach had this to say, “Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach is once again proud to be associated with the Halfway Toyota Illovo Sugar Challenge for 2014 as a major co-sponsor! We feel this is a very worthy event in our community with funds raised going to a great organisation, Hospice!”

Illovo Sugar Umzimkulu’s General Manager, Vis Pillay shared his thoughts on this year’s partnership, “Illovo Sugar is proud to be joint sponsors of the Hospice Cycle race once again this year. Cycling through the lush cane fields of the South Coast will give the cyclists a breath of fresh air as they wind through the magnificent, scenic routes.  Illovo supports a healthy and active lifestyle and our association with Hospice shows our commitment to social responsibility.  Illovo strive to be present and add value in all the communities in which we operate. We wish all the cyclists a successful and safe ride, especially our teens”.

Both title sponsors will once again be entering their own teams where the riders will face an epic challenge to outwit and outlast. Hospice calls on all riders to participate and thanks all who are in support of this major fundraiser with emphasis on the farmers who allow the track through their cane fields.

The event takes place on Sunday the 10th August 2014 and promises to be a day filled with fun for children and adults alike, food stalls, games and loads more on offer on the day. Great prizes for various categories and an awesome mountain bike is up for grabs.

Make it a family day and support Hospice in its efforts to raise funds for patient care.
